All classes are held at 133 Sunset Blvd, Turner Valley, Alberta. Please include a registration form (which can be found and printed from this website under the registration tab) with the required class and membership fee. Membership in the Arts Council is $10.00 per year. We ask that everyone taking classes, joining clubs or attending workshops become a member.

A refund for class instruction fees is based on cancellation only. All registration fees are due at least 2 weeks prior to start of class. Sheep Creek Arts Council is proud to offer our classes and workshops at an affordable rate. We are able to pass these savings on to you because of how we are funded.

Painting Your Way

Participants will continue to strengthen their art through knowledgeable decisions and planning while working on their own new projects. Individual help will be provided to complete an acrylic painting of personal choice. Bring your own photo and have fun learning with others. Beginner and intermediate artists welcome. Belly Dance for Fun and Fitness

Join the fun learning the basics of middle-eastern dance. All levels welcome. Instructor Kim Davies.

Quilting – Get out of the Box

Learn dozens of techniques in this sampler quilt to make a unique quilt. Each of the 12 blocks will teach different quilting skills. Then learn a variety of ways to piece it and add borders. Use a variety of fabrics to make this scrappy. This is a perfect class to use your scraps. Start with at least 5 fabrics (1 meter of each) in 1 colour from light to dark. You can add another zinger fabric. We can add more fabric if necessary. Instructor: Joyce Brown. A sewing machine is available if needed - contact Sheila 403 931 3989 to reserve.

Watercolour for the Terrified

This beginner class will dispel your fear of watercolor! Chester will take you step by step through the process to create beautiful watercolor paintings. Instructor: Chester Lees.

Knitting – Beginner

Learn to knit! Knitting is fun, calming to the mind and soothing to the spirit. This is a skill based class covering: needles and yarns, basic stitches and techniques, and an introduction to more advanced skills such as textured stitches. Each class will build on and reinforce the skills learned the previous class. The classes are specifically designed to allow for plenty of practice, time to ask questions, and to discover the pleasure of knitting and nattering. You will leave with some lovely sample squares to remind you of what you have leaned and the skill and confidence to keep on exploring knitting. Adult or teenagers. Instructor: Laurie Bullock

Quilting Hand Applique

Hand applique is a wonderful take-along project. This introductory class will explore several ways to do applique while learning how to deal with stems, leaf points, circles, layered applique and embellishments. The project can be used as a pillow front, a small wall hanging or a medallion centre for a quilt.

Watercolour Painting: Intermediate Class

If you have some watercolour experience or have taken one of the previous classes with Chester, this is the class for you. Chester will take you step by step through the process to create beautiful watercolour painting. Instructor: Chester Lee. Bring your own basic supplies i.e. paper, brushes, and whatever paint you have. Chester will have some paint available.

Learn to Sew Clothes

Whip up a pair of PJ's and a pull on skirt and then get ready to move on to more complex outfits. You will work at your own pace and will need to purchase supplies as needed. Bring an easy pattern fabric, sewing machine, sewing supplies, paper scissors and pins. Adult or teenagers. Several sewing machines are available if you do not own one. Find Your Medium

These sampler classes are a great way to try something new. Different medium each week -watercolor, acrylic, mixed media and Chinese brush. Instructor: Chester Lees

Knitting: Cowboy Cowl

The Cowboy Cowl is a knit variation of a bandana. All you really need to know is how to knit and purl. With this project you will go on to learn the following techniques: reading a pattern, increases and de creases, wrap and turn technique, mattress stitch and blocking your finished piece. Don't be daunted, this is a beginner project, the next step up from knitting miles of scarf.
